Dunstaffnage Castle , Argyll , Scotland
Scotland

Built on this strategic spot on the Firth of Lorn , Dunstaffnage Castle was erected in 1275 by Duncan/Ewen MacDougall before it was handed over to the Clan Campbell in 1470 .

The castle is famous for being where Flora MacDonald was imprisoned for helping Bonnie Prince Charlie  during the Jacobite uprising .

It is also believed the castle was also home to the Stone of Destiny after being brought over from Ireland .

This image was taken from the parapet on the west wall .
