Siskiyou lewisia patch

Overlooking Bingham Lake in the Russian Wilderness west of Callahan, California.  Seen here are lovely Siskiyou lewisia flowers growing natively in full bloom.  They are a succulent found in the Klamath Mountains region of Southern Oregon & Northern California, growing in abundance in rocky subalpine environments.  Purportedly an isolated population was found in Fresno County, California.

On the other side of the granite crags facing South Sugar Lake, I had also spotted an area of quill leaf lewisia which are also native only to this region & Fresno County, California.
