Campo Maior, Republica Square, aerial view
Extremadura

Urban nucleus municipal headquarters. Village located on a plain on the border of Alentejo. Medieval village of royal jurisdiction with castle and urban fence. 17th century war square.

Campo Maior is on the border with Spain, north of Elvas. The influence of Spanish Extremadura architecture is visible, even if we do not understand what details distinguish it from Portalegre and Elvas. The type of balconies, and the shading of the heat spans, are the details that stand out first.
