Selinunte Hera Temple
Palerme - Sicily

Selinunte was one of the most important of the Greek colonies in Sicily.

This temple was dedicated to Hera (equivalent to the roman Juno), goddess of fertility, protectress of lovers, marriage, and pregnant women. Built around 470/460 b.c by Doric greeks that colonized Sicily, was destroyed by Carthage in 409 B.C
