Whitelee windfarm can be found just about 20 minutes from Glasgow city centre . It consists of 140 turbines which can generate 322 megawatts of electricity which supplies enough clean , green electricity for 180,000 homes .

Being the largest windfarm in Europe , it took 3 years to construct . A visitor centre is found at the entrance which is free to enter .

The windfarm covers 55 square kilometers and contains 90 kilometers of cycling and walking trails .
