Conglomerate Mesa with Friends of the Inyo
California

Conglomerate Mesa is located in a remote area of the Inyo Mountains, east of Highway 395 and Owens Lake and west of Death Valley National Park. The mesa is a 7,000 foot formation of coarse conglomerate rock. The Conglomerate Mesa area is the ancestral lands and traditional territories of the Timbisha Shoshone and Paiute Shoshone Tribes. The Mesa has a large stand of Joshua Tree woodland and oasis for the species. As of 2020 the Mesa is threatened a large strip mining for gold by foreign company.
