Rhinebeck Farmers Market
The Rhinebeck Farmers' Market opened in May of 1995. It began with a group of local individuals and business people coming together with their ideas for a market. The goal was threefold: to provide a venue for the sale of locally grown and produced agricultural products of the Hudson Valley; to enhance the social and economic vitality of the Town and Village; and to educate consumers about the health and economic benefits of buying local products. A representative of Cornell Cooperative Extension lent guidance on local agriculture and related businesses. The market that grew from this vision is a successful mix of growers and producers. Choose from fruits and vegetables, raw honey and bee products, local wine, cider and fruit juices, jams, jellies, cow, sheep and goat cheeses, cut flowers, breads and baked goods. Select free-range poultry and eggs including chicken, turkey, pheasant; farm-raised meats including beef, lamb, and venison; smokehouse products including fish, cheese and meats for the table. Potted herbs and nursery plants delight cooks and gardeners; refreshing soaps and skin-care products soothe all. The Farmers' Market Board of Trustees and market managers have developed cultural and educational programming that highlights seasonal products. Today our market is a bustling Sunday morning event that includes live music performances, product and cooking demonstrations, and celebrations of harvest holidays and traditions. Funding for these events is provided through the generous support of local sponsors. The sale of market tee-shirts, totes, cookbooks and calendars provides additional revenues for advertising and marketing. Space for community not-for-profit organizations and a market table provide information about the Hudson Valley. Come join us from 10AM until 2PM on Sundays from May through November for a selection of great Hudson Valley products!
