Certosa Reale of Collegno, arcades
Turin

The monumental complex of the Certosa Reale of Collegno date back to 17th century.

After having been a Carthusian monastery, in 19th century it became the Royal Insane Asylum, then psychiatric hospital until the suppression of such hospitals in whole Italy.

Today the complex is part of a big green public park.

During the 1920s one of the patients of the psychiatric hospital was the "forgetful man from Collegno", whose identity has never conclusively determined (Bruneri or Canella?). Recently a tv fiction has broadcast about that case: most of the scenes have been shot between these old walls.
