Die St. Nicolaikirche enthält eine unvergleichliche Menge von Schnitzaltären aus den Jahrzehnten um 1500. Es sind heute noch 9 von ursprünglich 16 Altären vorhanden. Die Nikolaikirche ist die Pfarrkirche des kleinen niederrheinischen Städtchens Kalkar.
In diesem Panorama des Chores ist im Osten zu sehen der Hauptaltar mit 208 geschnitzten Personen, der die Passion Christi darstellt (vor allem von Arnt von Zwolle, auch Arnt Beeldsnijder genannt, bis 1492, fertiggestellt von Ludwig Jupan bis 1500); die Flügel wurden gemalt von Jan Joest; rechts vom Altar rückwärtige Seitenflügel von Jan Joest. Links vom Hauptaltar ein spätgotisches Sakramentshaus aus der Mitte des 15. Jahrhunderts.
Ganz rechts sieht man noch eine Spitze des Siebenschmerzenaltars von Hendrik Douvermann (bis 1521) in der südlichen Seitenkapelle. Im Chorbereich beherrschend ist das Chorgestühl von Hendrik Bernts (1508).
Im Längsschiff Richtung Westen ist die Rückseite des Marienleuchters zu sehen, an dem die meisten der wichtigen Bildschnitzer von 1508 bis 1549 gearbeitet haben. Darunter im Panorama steht der neue sehr schlichte, schöne Altar von Erwin Heerich (2000).
Die Fenster der Nicolaikirche werden seit 2000 neu gestaltet von Karl-Martin Hartmann.
Die Panoramaaufnahmen wurden an einem regnerischen Apriltag bei sehr schlechten Lichtverhältnissen ohne Stativ gemacht.
