View of the Ría de Ferrol from the A Bailadora battery, in Ares (Galicia, NW of Spain). Just to the north, you can see the castle of San Felipe (16th century), and a little further east, the castle of La Palma, which together with that of San Martín (which no longer exists), as well as multiple coastal batteries, such as A Bailadora (from where the photo is taken), defended the entrance to the arsenal and the port of Ferrol.
To the west, the mouth of the estuary and the outer port of Ferrol. In front of the city of Ferrol you can see the town of Mugardos, and to the east Fene, where the Navantia-Fene crane (old Astano) stands out, under which the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela would fit.
Looking south-southeast, you can make out the Pontedeume railway bridge.
