The Galaxy – Koh Chang's Ghostship

In the tranquil waters off Koh Chang, Thailand, The Galaxy stands as a ghostly monument to a bygone era. Once a thriving cargo ship, The Galaxy now sits abandoned, its rusted hull and decaying structure offering a stark contrast to the beauty of the surrounding waters. The ship was originally built in the 1960s, and for decades it served in the shipping industry, transporting goods across Southeast Asia. However, after a series of misfortunes and mechanical failures, the vessel was left to deteriorate, eventually being stranded off the coast of Koh Chang.
Over the years, The Galaxy has become a symbol of both mystery and nostalgia, earning the nickname "Ghostship" for its eerie presence. The once-pristine ship now lies in a state of decay, but its immense size and still-standing form continue to evoke a sense of awe. The surrounding waters, now calm, contrast sharply with the ghostly stillness of the ship, which is slowly being reclaimed by nature. As the sun sets behind the wreck, the ship's haunting silhouette is bathed in warm golden hues, casting long shadows that highlight its worn, yet imposing presence. It’s a haunting reminder of both human ingenuity and the passage of time—an iconic and eerie sight for anyone who ventures to Koh Chang.
